Sign my petition: Tell Betsy DeVos to stop attacking public schools!

Higher education shouldn’t be a debt sentence.

Under Donald Trump and Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos, however, consumer protections for student loan borrowers are being rolled back. Their budget cuts $9.2 billion from education spending, funneling money out of public schools and hurting students and families.

Corporate loan servicers have already put millions of families at risk of financial ruin—we must fight back against these attacks on our students and public schools. Sign my petition: Tell Trump and DeVos to protect our public schools!

I’ve been at the forefront of protecting student loan borrowers here in Washington. I’ve fought for students who were victimized by predatory for-profit schools, taken on student loan debt collectors, and prepared an easy-to-use Student Loan Survival Guide to help students navigate the confusing minefield of borrowing and repaying student debt.

President Obama made numerous strides toward reducing the burden on students. But Donald Trump and Betsy DeVos want to roll back those student protections, including already-promised debt relief for victims of predatory for-profit colleges.
